Finding the Best Biome for Your Base
Understanding Climate Zones
Latitude Mod divides your world into distinct climate bands running east-west. The equator (center of the map) is always hot and tropical, while moving north or south gradually cools the climate until you reach frozen polar regions at the map edges.
Locating Your Ideal Biome
1. Check your coordinates – Open the debug screen (F3) and note your Z-coordinate. This determines your latitude and climate zone.
2. Travel systematically – Walk directly north or south from your spawn point. You'll notice biomes transition smoothly rather than change abruptly.
3. Consider your playstyle – Tropical zones offer jungle resources and warmth but frequent rain. Temperate zones provide balanced conditions. Polar zones are harsh but resource-rich for ice and snow blocks.
4. Watch for altitude changes – Mountains in your latitude will have tree lines and snow caps appropriate to their climate zone, so high elevation biomes are colder than lowland ones.
5. Mark promising locations – Use beds or torches to mark biome transitions you like, then return with supplies.
Pro Tip
If you want a specific biome type, travel along an east-west line (keeping Z-coordinate constant) to find variations within your climate zone, then adjust north or south to fine-tune temperature.
