Staying Safe and Managing Scary Events
Preparing for Encounters
Redwood Asylum triggers frightening events as you progress through the story. While these events cannot be completely avoided, you can minimize panic and stay focused.
Before Exploring:
- Play with sound on—audio cues help you anticipate events
- Explore during daylight if the atmosphere becomes overwhelming
- Take breaks between sections to manage tension
- Remember that scary events are scripted and part of the story progression
During Scary Moments
When frightening events occur:
1. Stay calm and continue moving forward—events typically pass quickly
2. Keep moving through hallways rather than standing still
3. Don't panic-sprint into unknown areas; this can lead to getting lost
4. Use the flickering lights to navigate; they illuminate paths intentionally
5. Remember that the asylum's dangers are environmental and story-based, not combat threats
Managing Atmosphere
If the horror becomes too intense, reduce custom sound volume or explore with a friend nearby. The map is designed to be completed—persistence leads to understanding the story and reaching the exit.
