Adjusting Shadow Intensity and Softness
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings or shader menu). Look for the Lantern Shaders configuration panel.
Modify Shadow Parameters
Locate shadow-related sliders in the settings menu. You'll typically find options for:
- Shadow Distance: Controls how far shadows render from your character. Reducing this improves performance on older computers.
- Shadow Softness: Adjusts the blur and feathering around shadow edges. Higher values create softer, more diffused shadows; lower values keep them crisp and pixelated.
- Shadow Intensity: Controls how dark shadows appear. Lower values make shadows more transparent and subtle.
Test Your Changes
After adjusting each setting, observe how shadows fall across terrain and buildings. The pixelated style means shadows will maintain blocky edges even when softened. If performance drops, reduce shadow distance or intensity. Save your preferences—most shader packs remember your choices between sessions.
Experiment during different times of day; shadows look most dramatic during sunrise and sunset when the sun is low.
