Enhance Colored Lighting Effects in Your World

Access Lighting Settings

Press Shift + O to open the shader menu and find the lighting or color options section.

Enable Colored Lighting

Toggle colored lighting on if it isn't already active. This feature makes light sources cast their actual colors onto nearby blocks and surfaces, rather than using the default white-gray lighting.

Observe Color Casting

Place or stand near colored light sources to see the effect:

  • Glowstone and lanterns cast warm yellow-orange light
  • Lava emits deep red-orange tones
  • Soul lanterns and soul fire produce blue-green lighting
  • Amethyst blocks emit purple hues
  • Neon-colored blocks (from other mods) cast their respective colors

Adjust Intensity if Available

Some shader versions allow you to control how strong colored lighting appears. Increase intensity for more dramatic color effects, or decrease it for subtler lighting that stays closer to vanilla aesthetics.

Experiment with Combinations

Build with multiple light sources near each other to see how colors blend and interact. Colored lighting is especially striking in caves, underground bases, and night scenes where darkness makes the colors pop.
