Maintain Smooth Gameplay While Exploring Large Worlds

Monitor Frame Rate During Play

Enable the frame rate counter (usually F3 key or configurable in options) to watch performance in different areas. Note where frame rate drops occur—near water, in dense forests, or at high render distances.

Adjust Render Distance Appropriately

Keep render distance at a level your hardware can handle smoothly. The shader is optimized to work well at moderate distances without sudden drops. If you notice stuttering, reduce render distance by 2-4 chunks and test again.

Manage Lighting Load

Avoid placing too many light sources (torches, lanterns, glowstone) in a small area. While the shader handles lighting efficiently, extremely dense lighting can still cause frame rate dips. Spread light sources out or use fewer, strategically-placed lights.

Regular Testing

When building or exploring new areas, periodically check your frame rate. If performance degrades, it's usually due to render distance or local lighting density rather than the shader itself. Small adjustments to these settings restore smooth gameplay without sacrificing visual quality.
