Understanding Knife Combat and Damage

Basic Attack Mechanics

CS2 knives are melee weapons designed for close-range combat. Hold the knife in your hand and left-click to perform a slash attack. Unlike swords, these tactical blades are optimized for quick strikes rather than sustained damage.

When to Use Knives

Knives excel when:

• Your firearm ammunition is depleted
• Enemies are at very close range
• You need silent, quick eliminations
• You're in tight indoor spaces where guns are less effective

Combat Tips

Stay mobile while wielding a knife—strafe around opponents to avoid their attacks while landing your own strikes. The Butterfly Knife and Skeleton Knife are lighter variants, while the M9 Bayonet and Karambit offer different handling characteristics.

Knives cannot block or parry incoming damage, so positioning and movement are critical. Use terrain and structures to your advantage when engaging armed opponents. Remember that knives are a backup weapon—they're most effective when enemies don't see you coming.
