Troubleshoot a Forge Mod That Won't Load

Check Your Setup

Verify that Kilt Mod is installed in your mods folder. Without it, Forge mods cannot be translated into Fabric format. Confirm the Forge mod file is a valid .jar and placed directly in the mods folder, not in a subfolder.

Review the Game Log

1. Launch the game and let it fail or load incompletely

2. Open the latest log file (usually in .minecraft/logs/)

3. Search for the mod's name or "Kilt" to find error messages

4. Look for incompatibility warnings between the Forge mod and existing Fabric mods

Common Issues

Some Forge mods depend on other Forge mods or libraries that Kilt cannot automatically bridge. If a mod requires dependencies, you may need to install those as well. Additionally, mods that heavily modify core game systems sometimes conflict with Fabric's architecture, even with Kilt's translation layer.

If problems persist, try removing the mod and testing with a simpler Forge mod first to confirm Kilt is working correctly.
