How to Craft a Hammer in Just Hammers

Getting Started

To make any hammer, you first need the base materials for the head and the handle. Hammers in this mod follow a consistent pattern: a hammer head made from your chosen material, plus a stick or similar handle component. Check JEI/REI for the exact recipe for your material tier, since the mod adds recipes for stone, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite variants.

Crafting Steps

1. Gather the raw material for the head (e.g., cobblestone for stone, iron ingots for iron, diamonds for diamond).

2. Craft the base hammer first — the plain variant is the entry point for that material.

3. Once you have a base hammer, you can upgrade it into reinforced, impact, or destructor variants using the appropriate cores.

Why Start With the Base Hammer

Every advanced variant (Reinforced, Impact, Destructor, and Reinforced Impact) is built on top of the base hammer for that material. Skipping the base tier means you cannot craft the upgraded versions. Start with stone to test the feel, then move to iron or diamond once you have a steady supply.

Tips

  • Keep a spare base hammer in your inventory so you can upgrade it later without re-crafting from scratch.
  • The handle material usually does not affect the hammer's mining behavior — only the head material and variant do.
