Fixing Common Hammer Problems (Durability, Wrong Blocks, AoE Surprises)
Hammer Breaks Too Fast
Area-of-effect hammers lose durability per block broken, so a Destructor Hammer drains faster than a base hammer. If durability is your problem, switch to a Reinforced variant or move up a material tier. Reinforced hammers are specifically designed to last longer between repairs.
Hammer Will Not Mine a Block
Each material tier has a mining level. A stone hammer cannot mine diamond ore or obsidian, no matter which variant it is. If a block refuses to break, check the material tier of your hammer and upgrade to iron, diamond, or netherite as needed.
Hammer Broke Blocks I Did Not Want Broken
The AoE effect is centered on the block you aim at. If you are losing blocks you wanted to keep, stand further back and aim at the edge of the area you want cleared, or switch to a base hammer with a smaller radius. Never swing a Destructor Hammer near a finished build.
I Cannot Craft the Variant I Want
Advanced variants require the matching core. If the recipe will not appear, you are likely missing the core item (Reinforced Core, Impact Core, Destruction Core, or Reinforced Impact Core). Craft the core first, then combine it with the base hammer.
Repairing Hammers
Hammers can typically be repaired with their base material in an anvil, the same way other tools work. Keep a stack of the matching material on hand during long mining trips so you can repair instead of replacing.
