Telling Vanilla and Modded Professions Apart

Use the Shift Hover Trick

When you're browsing professions in JEI, it's not always obvious which ones are vanilla and which were added by other mods. Just Enough Professions solves this: hover over a profession's name on its JEI page and hold Shift. A tooltip appears showing which mod the profession belongs to.

Why This Matters

Knowing the source mod helps you in several situations:

• You can look up that mod's own documentation if you need more detail about the profession.
• You can tell whether a profession will exist in a world that doesn't have that mod.
• You can avoid confusing two similarly named professions from different mods.

Practical Workflow

1. Open the profession list by hovering an emerald or villager spawn egg and pressing the JEI recipe key (default U).

2. Click a profession to open its page.

3. Hover the profession name and hold Shift to read the source mod.

4. Note the workstation block shown on the page so you can find or craft it.

Repeat for each profession you're unsure about. After a few lookups you'll have a clear mental map of which jobs come from vanilla and which come from your installed mods.
