Planning a Villager Trading Hall Using JEI Profession Info

Survey Available Professions

Before you build, decide which trades you want. Open JEI and pull up the profession list by hovering an emerald or a villager spawn egg and pressing the JEI recipe key (default U). Browse every entry — including modded ones — and note the professions whose trades interest you.

Collect Workstation Blocks

For each profession you plan to include, open its page and read the workstation block name and picture. Search that block in JEI to see its recipe, then gather the materials. Build one workstation per villager you intend to employ.

Lay Out the Hall

A common approach is one workstation per cell, with a villager confined to each cell so it can only reach its own block. Place the workstation, then introduce an unemployed villager. When it claims the block, its profession changes to match the JEI page.

Verify and Adjust

After villagers take jobs, check each one against the profession page you used. If a villager picked the wrong job, it likely reached a neighboring workstation — separate the cells further or block line of sight. Use the Shift hover on each profession name to confirm the source mod when trades look unfamiliar, so you know which mod's mechanics apply.
