Import a Custom Entity Model from Blockbench
Preparing Your Model
Blockbench is a powerful visual editor that works seamlessly with JsonEM. After designing your entity model in Blockbench, you need to export it in a format JsonEM can read.
Export and Import Steps
1. Complete your model design in Blockbench
2. Export your model as JSON from Blockbench (ensure you're using the correct export format)
3. Place the JSON file in your mod's model directory or resource pack folder
4. JsonEM will automatically recognize and load the model on game restart
5. Test the model in-game by spawning the corresponding entity
Troubleshooting
If your model doesn't appear, verify that:
- The JSON structure matches JsonEM's expected format
- Bone names and hierarchy are preserved from Blockbench
- Texture references in the JSON point to valid texture files in your resource pack
- The file is placed in the correct directory that JsonEM monitors
JsonEM handles the conversion of Blockbench's visual data into the TexturedModelData format automatically, so focus on getting the geometry and bones correct in Blockbench first.
