Edit an Existing Modded Entity Model
Accessing Modded Models
JsonEM can dump and edit entity models from other mods, not just vanilla Minecraft. This lets you customize modded creatures to fit your resource pack or modpack aesthetic.
Steps to Edit
1. Identify the modded entity you want to modify
2. Use JsonEM's dump feature to export that entity's model as JSON
3. Open the exported JSON in Blockbench or a text editor
4. Make your desired changes (bone positions, sizes, structure)
5. Save the modified JSON file
6. Place it in your resource pack's model override folder where JsonEM will load it
7. Restart the game to see changes applied
Important Notes
JsonEM works with JSON-based models, so it cannot modify OptiFine-format models. Check if the mod uses JsonEM-compatible formats first. When editing, preserve the original bone names and hierarchy to avoid breaking animations. If the modded entity has custom animations, your JSON edits won't affect those—focus on visual geometry changes only.
Always keep a backup of the original JSON before making extensive modifications.
