Set Up Your Server to Work with JLine

Prepare Your Dedicated Server

JLine only functions when your server runs in console mode without the GUI. Proper setup ensures you can use all features.

Configuration Steps

1. Locate your server startup script or batch file

2. Find the line that launches the server (typically contains java and .jar)

3. Ensure the nogui flag is present in the command

• Example: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui

4. Save your startup script

5. Restart your server using this script

6. Verify the console window opens without a GUI interface

Verifying JLine is Active

Once running:

• Your console should feel more responsive
• Pressing Up arrow should show previous commands
• Pressing Tab should suggest completions
• Commands should display with color formatting

If these features don't appear, double-check that nogui is in your startup command and that the mod is properly installed. The mod is client-side, so it works with any server as long as the nogui flag is used.
