How to Find Gem Veins and Mine Gems in the Jewelry Mod
Locating Gem Veins
Gem Veins spawn in the world as ore-like blocks that yield the mod's gems. Two variants exist: the standard Gem Vein and the Deepslate Gem Vein, which appears deeper underground in the deepslate layer. Search at the depths where you'd normally find diamond or deeper, and look for the distinctive gem-flecked texture. Bring a pickaxe of sufficient tier — the deepslate variant is tougher and benefits from a stronger tool.
Mining and Yields
Break the vein block with a pickaxe to receive the gem inside. The mod's gems include Citrine, Jade, Ruby, Sapphire, Tanzanite, Topaz, and Glacial Shard, so a single vein type can be your gateway to several jewelry recipes. Fortune enchantments help you get more gems per vein, and Silk Touch lets you relocate veins if you want a decorative mining room.
Practical Tips
- Branch mine at deepslate levels for the richest haul, since deepslate veins are more common there.
- Carry a Jeweler's Kit with you so you can craft rings and necklaces on the spot instead of hauling raw gems home.
- Mark veins you can't fully mine yet and return with a better pickaxe — gem veins are worth revisiting.
- Keep a stack of each gem type; higher-tier jewelry (including netherite variants) consumes multiple gems, so stockpiling pays off.
