Use the Hold-to-View Keybind

When selecting materials for a build, you often need to see multiple items without toggling zoom on and off repeatedly. Set up a dedicated hold-down key to view zoomed previews only while pressing it.

1. Open Minecraft's Controls menu

2. Search for or scroll to find the ItemZoom hold keybind (often labeled as "Zoom (Hold)" or similar)

3. Assign an unused key—many players use C or V

4. Close the menu and test by holding your chosen key while hovering over items

Compare Quickly

Now you can:

• Hold your assigned key to see a zoomed preview of one item
• Release to see the next item at normal size
• Repeat across your inventory or crafting table without permanent zoom mode

This workflow is especially useful when deciding between similar-looking blocks, dyed materials, or variants of the same item type. You keep your normal view active while getting detailed previews on demand.
