How to Use the Item Wheel for Block Palettes

Trigger the wheel

Hold a block that belongs to a palette — stone variants, wood planks, wool colors, terracotta, and similar families are typical. Press and hold the ItemSwapper hotkey (default R). A radial wheel appears showing the other blocks in that palette that you are carrying.

Select and release

Move the mouse toward the segment you want. The highlighted segment is what you will get. Release the hotkey to swap your main-hand block for the selected one. This lets you place a wall of mixed stone types without ever opening your inventory.

Drill into related items

While the wheel is open and a segment is highlighted, press the middle mouse button. If the highlighted block has related items — for example a different shape or a connected variant — the wheel switches to show those instead. Press middle mouse again to go back or keep drilling.

Practical building tips

  • Stock your inventory with several members of the same palette before you start building; the wheel only shows what you actually have.
  • Use the wheel to alternate between slab, stair, and full-block versions of the same material while building.
  • If the wheel is empty, you are either holding an unmapped block or you do not have any other blocks from that palette in your inventory.
