How to Build a Shop or Museum Display with Items Displayed
Planning the Layout
Items Displayed is built for showing things off, so start by deciding what story your build tells. A shop wants rows of goods at eye level; a museum wants pedestals spaced out with room to walk around. Use Item Displays for medium and large objects and Jewelry Pillows for small trinkets. Group items by theme or color so visitors can scan the collection quickly.
Assembling the Displays
Place your Item Displays and Jewelry Pillows first, then walk the row and right-click each one with the item it should hold. Work in a consistent order so restocking later is fast. If a display faces the wrong way, break and replace it before filling it. Leave a gap between pedestals so the floating item models do not visually overlap.
Lighting and Protection
- Put light sources above or behind displays so items are lit from the front.
- Use carpets or slabs to mark walking paths and keep visitors from standing inside displays.
- Keep a labeled chest behind the counter with spare stock for quick swaps.
- On multiplayer servers, consider claiming the area so visitors cannot take displayed items.
Restocking
When an item sells or an exhibit changes, right-click the display with the replacement item. The old item returns to you, so you can move it to storage or another display without extra steps.
