How to Add Custom Item Borders to Items in Item Borders Mod
Finding and Opening the Config File
Item Borders reads its rules from a config file inside your .minecraft/configs folder. Open that folder, locate the Item Borders config, and open it with any plain text editor. The file ships with commented explanations above each option, so read those lines before editing — they tell you the exact syntax the mod expects for colors and item entries.
Writing Your First Border Rule
A rule pairs a color with one or more items. You write the color as a hex code, then list the items it should apply to. You can target a single item by its registry name (for example minecraft:stick), or target a whole group at once using a tag, written with the # prefix (for example #forge:ores). Tags are the fastest way to highlight every ore, every plank, or every ingot without listing each one.
Applying and Testing
Save the file, then reload the game or use the mod's config reload so the change takes effect. Open your inventory and confirm the border color appears on the items you listed. If nothing shows, check for typos in the item ID, make sure the hex code has the # and six digits, and verify you didn't put the rule under a section that's disabled. Add more rules one at a time so you can tell which line caused a problem.
