How to Use Efficiency, Speed, and Overdrive Augments
What Each Augment Does
Augments are add-on items you install into a generator to change how it behaves:
- Efficiency Augment: makes each unit of fuel produce more total energy, so your coal lasts longer.
- Speed Augment: increases the rate at which the generator burns fuel and outputs energy, at the cost of burning through fuel faster.
- Overdrive Augment: pushes output beyond normal limits, typically at a steeper fuel cost or with a risk of overheating depending on config.
Installing Augments
Open the generator's interface and look for augment slots. Place the augment item into an empty slot. Most generators accept multiple augments, and stacking the same type usually multiplies the effect. Removing an augment is as simple as taking it back out of the slot.
Choosing the Right Combo
- Running low on fuel? Stack Efficiency Augments.
- Need a burst of power for a machine? Use Speed or Overdrive.
- Balanced setups often mix one Efficiency with one Speed so you get throughput without draining your coal chest overnight.
Check the generator's tooltip after installing augments to see the updated stats. If a config disables a specific augment, the slot may reject it.
