How to Upgrade Generators Through Every Tier

The Upgrade Chain

Iron Generators uses a linear upgrade path. Each tier has a dedicated upgrade item that converts the previous generator into the next one:

  • Stone to Iron Generator Upgrade
  • Iron to Gold Generator Upgrade
  • Gold to Emerald Generator Upgrade
  • Gold to Diamond Generator Upgrade
  • Diamond to Crystal Generator Upgrade
  • Diamond to Obsidian Generator Upgrade
  • Obsidian to Netherite Generator Upgrade
  • Netherite to Allthemodium Generator Upgrade
  • Allthemodium to Vibranium Generator Upgrade
  • Vibranium to Unobtainium Generator Upgrade

Note that Gold branches: you can go toward Emerald or toward Diamond. Pick based on which materials you have access to.

How to Apply an Upgrade

Craft the upgrade item using an Upgrade Base plus the target tier's signature material. Then either right-click the upgrade onto the placed generator or combine them in a crafting grid. The generator keeps its position and any fuel inside, but its stats change to the new tier.

Planning Your Path

Higher tiers burn fuel more efficiently and hold more energy, but the upgrade materials get expensive fast. If you are short on a specific ore, take the branch you can actually afford. You can always craft a second generator later and route both into the same energy network.
