How to Automate Fueling Your Generator Array

Why Automate Fuel

A single generator is easy to feed by hand. Once you have three or more running in parallel, manual refueling becomes a chore and a mistake means your machines stop. Automating fuel delivery keeps everything running unattended.

Simple Hopper Setup

Place a chest above or beside the generator and run a hopper into the generator's fuel slot. Fill the chest with coal or charcoal. The hopper pushes fuel in as the generator burns through it. For multiple generators, use a line of hoppers feeding each one, or split a single chest with hoppers branching to each generator.

Bulk Fuel Production

  • Set up a charcoal farm: saplings into a furnace array, logs into charcoal, charcoal into the fuel chest.
  • If you have a coal farm from another mod, pipe its output directly into the fuel chest.
  • Use an item filter or sorting system so only valid fuel enters the chest; junk items will clog the hopper line.

Energy Side

Do not forget the output side. Run cables from each generator into a shared energy storage block, then distribute from there. This way, if one generator runs dry, the others keep your machines powered while you troubleshoot.

Monitoring

Add a comparator or a gauge block on the generator if the mod supports it, so you can see fuel levels at a glance without opening every interface.
