Set Up Volumetric Light Beams (God Rays)
Create the Light Source
Open the Light Editor and place a spotlight or point light where you want the beam to originate. Position it high up—near a ceiling, window, or above terrain—for the most dramatic effect.
Enable Volumetric Effects
In the light's settings, ensure volumetric lighting is enabled. This creates visible light beams that travel through the air. The beam will only appear if fog or particles are present in the world.
Add Fog or Dust
For god rays to be visible, your world needs atmospheric fog or dust particles. You can use Minecraft's fog settings, or place torches, campfires, and other particle-emitting blocks near the light. The volumetric effect works by rendering light rays through these particles.
Adjust for Best Results
Increase the light's brightness to make beams more prominent. Adjust the color to match your scene's mood—warm yellows for sunlight, cool blues for moonlight. Rotate spotlights to direct beams across your build. Experiment with different fog densities and light positions until you achieve the cinematic look you want.
