Adjust Shadow Quality and Softness

Access Light Shadow Settings

Select a light in the Light Editor and open its properties panel. Look for shadow-related options such as shadow softness, shadow distance, or shadow quality.

Control Shadow Softness

Increase the softness value to create blurred, realistic shadows that fade gradually at their edges. Decrease softness for sharp, defined shadows. Soft shadows look more natural and cinematic, while hard shadows create dramatic, high-contrast effects.

Optimize Shadow Performance

Shadow quality affects frame rate. If performance drops, reduce the shadow resolution or distance. Shadows that extend too far can impact gameplay performance unnecessarily. Limit shadow distance to the area players will actually see.

Test Different Settings

Try various softness levels on different light types. Spotlights often benefit from softer shadows, while point lights might work well with sharper shadows for dramatic effect. Place test objects—like pillars or trees—near your lights to see how shadows render. Adjust until shadows look natural and match your build's aesthetic.
