How to Spawn and Drive a Locomotive

Obtaining a Locomotive

Locomotives from this pack are spawned using Immersive Railroading's locomotive spawner. Place the spawner on or near your rail tracks and interact with it to open the locomotive selection menu. Search for the locomotive you want by name (for example, "EMD G12" or "SP AC-9") and confirm your selection.

Boarding and Operating

Once spawned, approach the locomotive and right-click to board it. You'll enter the cabin view. The controls depend on locomotive type:

  • Steam locomotives require you to build up pressure and manage the throttle
  • Diesel locomotives start more directly; increase throttle to accelerate
  • Electric trains respond immediately to throttle input

Use standard movement keys to control speed. Look around to see gauges and instruments. Exit by sneaking (default Shift key). Remember that heavier trains (especially freight consists) accelerate slowly—plan your routes with grade and distance in mind.

Coupling Cars

To add passenger or freight cars, spawn them nearby and position them on the same track. They will automatically couple when the locomotive moves close enough. Reverse carefully to avoid uncoupling.
