How to Sort Your Chests and Inventory with One Click

One-Click Sorting

Inventory Essentials adds a sort button to container and inventory screens so you can tidy everything without manually rearranging slots.

1. Open the chest, barrel, or your own inventory.

2. Look for the sort button added by the mod near the container UI.

3. Click it once.

The items in that inventory are reorganized into a consistent order, grouping similar items together and merging partial stacks where possible. Your hotbar and armor slots are left alone; only the storage grid is rearranged.

Getting Consistent Results

Sorting works best when you sort both sides of a transfer. A common routine:

• Dump everything into the chest first using Shift-click.
• Press the sort button on the chest to group duplicates.
• Press the sort button on your own inventory to tidy what is left.

If you use other inventory mods alongside this one, the sort button may appear in a slightly different spot depending on load order, but the behavior is the same. Sorting does not delete or combine items across different types, so enchanted gear, tools with durability, and named items keep their identity. If a sort looks wrong, close and reopen the screen and sort again.
