Safely Store Items on the Ground Without Losing Them

Why Items Normally Despawn

In vanilla Minecraft, dropped items disappear after five minutes. This mod removes that timer entirely, letting you leave items on the ground indefinitely.

How to Use Ground Storage

1. Drop your items by pressing Q (or your configured drop key) while holding them in your inventory

2. Leave the area — items will no longer despawn, even if you travel far away or log out

3. Return anytime to pick them up by walking over them or clicking them

Best Practices

  • Use this for temporary storage near your base or work area
  • Mark item piles with signs or torches so you remember where they are
  • Be aware that items on the ground can still be affected by water, lava, and explosions — place them in safe locations
  • If you want organized storage, consider using chests instead for better protection and sorting

When This Is Useful

This mod shines when you're mining far from home, die unexpectedly, or need to quickly offload items without crafting a chest. It's also helpful during building projects where you want materials staged on the ground nearby.
