How to Survive the Worst Infernal Modifier Combinations

Combinations That Kill You

Some modifiers are individually manageable but lethal together. Bulwark paired with Regen makes a mob that reduces incoming damage and heals faster than most weapons can chew through — you need a single high-damage hit or a way to bypass the damage reduction entirely. Wither combined with Vengeance means the mob applies wither on hit and reflects damage back at you, so melee is a death sentence. 1UP means the mob fully heals once when it drops low, so any fight you barely win becomes a fight you lose. Sprint or Speed combined with Teleport makes a mob you cannot outrun or disengage from.

Practical Counters

Carry a ranged option — bow, crossbow, or thrown potions — so you can damage Vengeance mobs without taking reflected hits. Bring milk buckets to clear wither and other debuffs, and golden apples or regeneration potions to survive burst windows. For Bulwark plus Regen, use a high-damage single strike (an enchanted axe or a critical hit) rather than chip damage. For 1UP, save your burst cooldown for the second health bar instead of blowing everything on the first.

When to Retreat

If a mob has three or more of the dangerous modifiers at once and you are not over-geared, leave. Infernal mobs are not worth dying for — you can mark the location, gear up, and come back. Losing your inventory to a Vengeance Wither mob is a worse outcome than skipping one fight.
