How to Prepare Gear and Loadout Before Hunting Infernal Mobs
Weapon Choices
You want two weapons, not one. A high single-hit damage weapon — an enchanted axe or a sharpness sword — handles Bulwark and Regen mobs where chip damage fails. A bow or crossbow handles Vengeance mobs where melee reflects damage back at you. Enchant both with the best damage and durability enchants you have, and keep a spare in your ender chest.
Armor and Protection
Infernal mobs hit harder than vanilla mobs because of modifiers like Strength, and some apply wither, poison, or fire. Wear full armor with Protection and, if you have it, specific resistances. Fire Protection helps against fiery modifiers, and Blast Protection helps against explosion-type abilities. Bring a shield — it blocks a surprising amount of modifier damage and buys you time to read the mob's nameplate.
Consumables to Carry
Milk buckets clear wither and other debuffs instantly, so carry several. Golden apples or enchanted golden apples give you absorption and regeneration for the burst window. Healing and regeneration potions stack with food. If you have access to them, potions of strength and swiftness help you close or escape fights. Keep a stack of blocks to wall off a mob you cannot beat, and an ender pearl to escape if things go wrong.
Pre-Fight Checklist
Before engaging an Ultra or Infernal mob, confirm your health is full, your hunger is full, your shield is up, and you have read the modifier list. If any of those is not true, back off and reset. Preparation is the difference between a loot drop and a death screen.
