Reduce Lag from Shader Effects
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Enable the FPS counter (usually toggled with Shift + F3 or through shader settings) to see your frame rate. If it's dropping below your target, the shader is likely the cause.
Disable or Lower Intensive Features
Open the shader menu and look for these performance-heavy options:
- Godrays: Reduce intensity or disable entirely for significant FPS gains
- Shadow Resolution: Lower shadow map quality to improve performance
- Bloom/Glow: Reduce bloom radius or strength
- Water Animations: Disable waving water if needed
- Cloud Layers: Reduce the number of animated cloud layers
Switch to a Lower Preset
If individual tweaks aren't enough, switch to a lower performance preset (Potato or Low). This disables multiple effects at once and provides the most dramatic improvement.
Check Other Mods and Settings
Shaders interact with render distance and other graphics settings. Lowering render distance or disabling other visual mods can free up resources for smoother shader performance.
