Create Automated Minecart Sorting Systems

Understanding Detector and Activator Rails

Automated sorting systems rely on detector and activator rails to route minecarts. This mod's increased output of these rails to 16 per craft makes complex sorting systems more accessible.

Building a Basic Sorter

1. Lay detector rails at points where you want to trigger sorting decisions.

2. Connect detector rails to redstone comparators to read minecart contents or detect empty carts.

3. Use activator rails to eject items or passengers at designated stops.

4. Place powered rails to maintain minecart momentum through the sorting section.

Expanding Your System

With 16 activator rails per craft, you can create multiple ejection points without material constraints. Build separate lanes for different cargo types, each with its own detector and activator rail setup.

Testing and Refinement

1. Test with single minecarts to verify sorting logic.

2. Adjust rail spacing if minecarts aren't triggering detectors properly.

3. Add redstone repeaters to extend signal timing if needed.

4. Scale up once your basic system works reliably.

The increased rail yields let you experiment with complex automation without worrying about running out of materials mid-project.
