How to Use the Improved Grindstone

Extracting and Transferring Enchantments

The Improved Grindstone Mod expands the vanilla grindstone so it can move enchantments instead of only removing them.

To pull enchantments off an item, place the enchanted item and a book into the grindstone. The item's enchantments transfer onto the book, and you get the now-unenchanted item back. This lets you preserve enchantments before discarding or repurposing gear.

To move enchantments between books, put an enchanted book in the top slot and an empty or differently enchanted book in the bottom slot. The enchantments transfer between them.

The mod also lets you choose how much experience the process costs. Options include no cost, a specific cost, or the vanilla cost. If Cloth Config is installed, you can configure these settings. Tax Free Levels is optionally supported for XP management.
