How to Refuel Vehicles and Use Fuel Pumps in Immersive Vehicles

If you just need to top off a single car, craft a fuel can (sometimes called a jerry can) at the Vehicle Workbench. Fill it at a fuel pump block, then right-click your vehicle with the full can to transfer fuel into its tank. The vehicle's fuel gauge is visible on the dashboard when you're seated.

Setting Up a Fuel Pump

A fuel pump is a placeable block that stores and dispenses fuel. To use it:

1. Place the pump on flat ground near where you park.

2. Supply it with fuel — either by piping in from a fuel storage block or by filling it with a fuel can.

3. Right-click the pump with an empty fuel can to fill the can, or drive a vehicle adjacent to it and use the pump's interaction to refuel directly.

Fuel Types

IV supports different fuel grades for different engines — some vehicles run on regular fuel, others on diesel or aviation fuel. Using the wrong fuel will prevent the engine from starting. Check the vehicle's tooltip or the workbench recipe to see which fuel it needs. Keep a spare can in your inventory so you don't get stranded far from base.
