Distinguish Between Sandstorms and Regular Rain

Visual Differences

Immersive Storms makes sandstorms visually distinct from regular rain in desert biomes. During normal rain in deserts, badlands, or savannas, you'll see sandy fog and wind-carried dust particles—a moderate atmospheric effect.

Recognize Thunderstorms

When a thunderstorm occurs in these sandy biomes, the fog becomes significantly denser, heavily reducing your visibility. This dramatic increase in fog density signals a severe sandstorm and creates a more dangerous-feeling atmosphere.

Biome Context

Remember that sandstorm effects only appear in:

  • Deserts
  • Badlands
  • Savannas

Rain in other biomes won't produce sandy fog or dust particles. This helps you quickly identify which biome type you're in based on the weather effects alone.

Gameplay Awareness

While these effects are purely visual and don't change gameplay mechanics, the enhanced visibility reduction during sandstorm thunderstorms can make navigation feel more challenging. Use landmarks or torches to stay oriented during severe storms.

Customization

If you want to make sandstorms even more distinctive, you can increase their fog density in the config to create a starker contrast with regular rain.
