Optimize performance when running many Immersive Engineering addons
Why Convergence improves performance
Without Convergence, multiple addons would duplicate code for power systems, fluid handling, and network logic. This wastes memory and causes lag. Convergence consolidates this code into one shared system, reducing overhead significantly.
Performance best practices
1. Use only addons you need — each addon adds content; disable unused ones to free resources
2. Monitor network complexity — very large power grids or fluid networks can lag; break them into sections using switches or valves
3. Avoid excessive chunk loading — machines in unloaded chunks still consume server resources; use chunk loaders sparingly
4. Update regularly — newer versions often include performance fixes
Checking stability
Launch your world and observe frame rate and server tick time. If you experience stuttering, check your game log for repeated errors. Convergence itself adds minimal overhead — if performance degrades, the issue is usually addon count or network size rather than Convergence itself. Consider reducing the number of active addons or simplifying your factory layout.
