How to Use Gyroscopes and Landing Gear for Stable Flight
What Gyroscopes Do
Gyroscopes stabilize your aircraft, reducing drift and making turns smoother. The basic Gyroscope is enough for small craft like the Gyrodyne. The Advanced Gyroscope offers stronger correction for larger or heavier builds. The Electronic Gyroscope is the most precise option and is best suited to Quadrocopters and Warships where fine control matters.
Installing a Gyroscope
1. Place the gyroscope on the aircraft's hull, ideally near the center of mass.
2. Power it if the type requires power.
3. Test-fly and adjust placement if the craft still drifts.
Landing Gear
Improved Landing Gear lets you touch down on uneven ground without tipping. Place gear under the fuselage so the craft rests level. For airships and cargo craft, gear also prevents sliding after landing.
Combining Systems
A stable aircraft uses both: gyroscopes for in-flight control and landing gear for safe touchdowns. If your craft wobbles in turns, add a stronger gyroscope before adding more engines — extra thrust will not fix instability. For Quadrocopters, the Electronic Gyroscope is almost mandatory because rotor craft are naturally twitchy.
