How to Build and Fly Your First Airship in Immersive Aircraft

Assembling the Airship

Craft an Airship item, then place it in the world to spawn the assembled vessel. Right-click the placed airship to board it. Once aboard, you pilot from the helm position. Airships are the most forgiving aircraft in the mod, so they are the right first build if you are new to flight.

Getting Airborne

Airships rely on buoyancy rather than lift from speed, so you can rise straight up. Use the ascend control to gain altitude and the descend control to sink. Forward movement is slow but steady, which makes airships ideal for hauling cargo and passengers over long distances. Watch your altitude when crossing mountains — airships do not climb quickly under load.

Practical Tips

  • Keep a Hull and Hull Reinforcement in mind if you plan to take hits; unarmored airships are fragile.
  • Add a Sail to improve handling in wind, and a Propeller or Enhanced Propeller for more thrust.
  • Mount a Telescope so you can scout landing spots from altitude.
  • If you want to carry goods, upgrade to the Cargo Airship variant, which trades some speed for storage.
  • Park on flat ground or use Improved Landing Gear to avoid tipping on slopes.

Airships are the safest way to learn the mod's flight model before moving on to Biplanes or Quadrocopters.
