Monasteries generate in stony peak and mountain biomes at high elevations. Locate tall monk towers that pierce the skyline—these are visible from great distances. Approach from lower slopes and climb carefully, as structures sit on steep terrain. Bring blocks for building bridges or ramps if the natural path is too dangerous.

Exploring Monastery Layouts

Monasteries contain multiple connected buildings including tall towers, herbalist houses, and meditation chambers. Towers have narrow staircases and multiple floors with enemies positioned at different heights. Clear each level systematically to avoid being ambushed from above.

Combat Considerations

Monk illagers often use ranged attacks from elevated positions. Use cover provided by walls and pillars. The height advantage favors defenders, so consider using ranged weapons to engage enemies from distance. Herbalist houses are smaller structures with fewer enemies but may contain unique loot. Bring fall damage reduction gear or water buckets for safe descents.
