How to Defeat the Necromancer and Stop Its Summons
What Makes the Necromancer Dangerous
The Necromancer is one of Illager Invasion's toughest additions because it raises fallen mobs back into the fight. If you kill its summons and ignore the Necromancer, you will fight the same wave repeatedly. Its summons also scale with whatever is already dead nearby, so fighting it in a graveyard of your own making is a mistake.
Kill Order and Tactics
1. Target the Necromancer first. Everything else is a distraction.
2. Close distance quickly — it prefers to fight at range behind its minions. Use a Platinum Infused Hatchet or a fast weapon to burst it down.
3. Do not let corpses pile up in the arena. Fight in a clean space, or lure the Necromancer away from where you killed other mobs.
4. If summons appear, ignore them and keep hitting the Necromancer. Killing it stops the summoning.
Gear and Preparation
- Bring a shield; the Necromancer's ranged attacks are blockable.
- Wear armor with good general protection — its damage type is not exotic, just persistent.
- Carry a Horn of Sight if you have one; it helps you track the Necromancer when it retreats behind minions.
- Clear the area of other illagers before engaging so you are not flanked by a Provoker or Basher mid-fight.
With the Necromancer dead, the rest of the encounter collapses quickly.
