Raids provide the richest context for hearing illager voice lines, as they include unique dialogue for different raid phases and outcomes.

Setting Up a Raid

Obtain the Bad Omen effect by defeating a raid captain (found in pillager outposts or patrols). Enter a village while holding this effect to trigger a raid.

Listening During Raid Phases

Illagers will call out as they spawn and advance. Listen for:

• Wave starts: Illagers announce themselves or taunt villagers
• Combat: Constant banter and reactions during fighting
• Casualties: Unique lines when illagers are defeated
• Victory or defeat: Special dialogue if illagers win or lose the raid

Best Raid Locations

Choose a village with good sightlines and minimal obstacles. This lets you hear dialogue clearly without missing lines due to distance or obstruction. Larger villages with more illagers create more opportunities for overlapping dialogue and personality clashes.
