Understand Ignition Range and Behavior
How Ignition Works
Torches and campfires in Ignition Mod will ignite flammable blocks in their vicinity. The exact range and which blocks catch fire depends on your mod configuration:
- Flammable blocks typically include wood, leaves, wooden planks, and similar materials
- Ignition occurs passively — you don't need to do anything special; it happens automatically
- The fire spreads according to standard Minecraft fire mechanics once ignited
Testing Ignition Distance
To learn your mod's specific behavior:
- Place a single torch in an isolated area surrounded by wooden blocks
- Observe which blocks catch fire and how far the effect reaches
- Note the minimum safe distance between torches and wood
- Repeat with campfires to compare their ignition range
Practical Implications
Understanding ignition helps you:
- Plan base layouts with confidence
- Avoid accidental fires during construction
- Design efficient lighting without constant fire management
- Adapt your building style to the mod's mechanics rather than fighting them
