Safely Light Your Wooden House Without Starting Fires
Choose Safe Lighting Locations
Torches and campfires in Ignition Mod will ignite nearby wooden blocks, so placement is critical. Avoid mounting torches directly on wooden walls, wooden beams, or wooden doors. Instead:
- Place torches on stone, dirt, or non-flammable blocks as your primary light source
- Use torches on the ground away from walls rather than mounted on structures
- Consider placing torches in the center of rooms on stone pedestals or pillars
Alternative Lighting Methods
For areas where torch placement is risky:
- Use lanterns or other mod-added light sources that don't have ignition properties
- Install torches in recessed stone alcoves set back from wooden surfaces
- Light rooms from above using ceiling-mounted stone blocks with torches on top
- Create stone-lined torch corridors along walls instead of direct wooden mounting
Test Your Setup
Different mod configurations may have varying ignition ranges, so testing helps you understand your specific setup's behavior.
