Create a Controlled Campfire for Cooking Without Burning Your Base
Isolate Your Campfire
Campfires pose the same ignition risk as torches. To safely cook and smelt:
- Build your campfire in a dedicated non-flammable structure made entirely of stone, brick, or similar materials
- Surround the campfire with at least one block of clearance on all sides using stone or dirt
- Avoid placing the campfire near wooden roofs, fences, or support beams
Design a Safe Cooking Area
Create a functional kitchen:
- Build a stone-lined pit or platform at least one block away from any wooden structures
- Place the campfire in the center of this cleared area
- Add stone counters or slabs around it for organization
- Keep wooden storage chests and crafting tables at a safe distance
Monitor and Maintain
Regularly check your cooking area:
- Watch for any fire spread to nearby blocks during use
- Keep the area clear of dropped items that might catch fire
- If you notice ignition occurring at unexpected distances, increase your safety clearance further
