Optimize Shaders for Older Computers

Check Your Current Frame Rate

Enable the FPS counter (F3 key by default) to see your current performance. HyShaders Vanilla is designed to be lightweight, but older systems may need extra tuning.

Disable Non-Essential Features

In Shader Options, look for toggles related to:

• Advanced Shadows: Turn this off first—it has the biggest impact on frame rate
• Color Grading: Disable if you need more performance; the vanilla colors still look good
• Ambient Occlusion: This subtle darkening effect can be toggled off

Lower Resolution Settings

Reduce shadow map resolution to the lowest available option. This preserves the shader's core benefits—better lighting and depth—while cutting GPU load significantly.

Test and Adjust

Load a world and check your FPS again. If you're still struggling, disable features one at a time rather than all at once. HyShaders Vanilla's strength is that you can strip it down to just improved colors and basic shadows while keeping solid frame rates on modest hardware.
