Enhance Shadows and Lighting in Caves
Understand Cave Lighting
HyShaders Vanilla improves how light spreads and shadows form in dark spaces. Caves benefit most from these changes because the shader adds depth to otherwise flat underground areas.
Adjust Shadow Distance
In Shader Options, increase the shadow render distance if your computer can handle it. This extends realistic shadows further into caves, making distant tunnel walls feel more three-dimensional.
Tweak Ambient Light
The ambient light setting controls how much light fills shadowed areas. For caves, a moderate setting prevents them from becoming pitch-black while preserving the shader's shadow detail. Too high and caves lose atmosphere; too low and they're hard to navigate without torches.
Place Strategic Torches
With HyShaders Vanilla's improved lighting, torches cast more realistic light and shadows. Place them to highlight interesting cave features—the shader will render the light falloff naturally, creating better atmosphere than vanilla.
Explore and Compare
Turn the shader off briefly (disable it in Video Settings) and compare the same cave. You'll notice how much more alive the space feels with HyShaders Vanilla's shadows and color improvements.
