Adjust Lighting to Match Your Horror Aesthetic

Access Shader Settings

Open your shader options menu while in-game. You'll find the settings panel in your video settings under Shaders. Look for the HyShaders Horror configuration options.

Customize Lighting Parameters

The mod provides several adjustable settings to control how light behaves in your world:

  • Ambient Lighting: Increase or decrease the overall brightness of shadowed areas. Lower values create deeper shadows for a more unsettling atmosphere.
  • Shadow Intensity: Control how dark and pronounced shadows appear. Higher intensity makes shadows more dramatic and menacing.
  • Color Grading: Adjust the overall color tone—shift toward cooler blues and greens for a sickly feel, or warmer reds and oranges for fire-lit horror scenes.
  • Fog Effects: Enable or intensify fog to obscure distant details and create mystery.

Test Your Changes

After adjusting each setting, walk around your world to see how it affects different environments. Test both daytime and nighttime lighting. Pay attention to how your custom buildings, caves, and terrain look under the new settings. Fine-tune values incrementally until the mood matches your vision.
