Play Multiplayer Smoothly With Hydrogen

Connect to a Server

Hydrogen Modpack works in multiplayer without requiring server-side installation. Simply:

1. Launch Minecraft with Hydrogen installed

2. Go to Multiplayer and connect to any vanilla or modded server as normal

3. The modpack optimizes your client-side rendering automatically

You'll notice smoother gameplay, especially when other players are nearby or in high-entity areas.

Optimize for Multiplayer Performance

Multiplayer can be more demanding than singleplayer due to network traffic and other players' activity:

1. Lower render distance slightly—12 chunks is a good balance for servers

2. Reduce entity distance in video settings if available

3. Disable fancy particles to reduce load when many players are active

4. Keep a stable internet connection—lag from poor connection won't be fixed by Hydrogen

The modpack reduces your PC's workload, making multiplayer feel more responsive. If you experience lag spikes, they're likely network-related rather than performance-related. Check your ping in the server list—anything under 100ms is ideal for smooth play.
