Join Older Minecraft Servers with Your Current Version
How Cross-Version Play Works
Hydra Client integrates ViaFabricPlus, which lets you connect to servers running older Minecraft versions without downgrading your game. This means you can play on legacy servers using your current installation.
Connecting to an Older Server
1. Open the multiplayer menu as usual
2. Add a server with an older version's IP address (e.g., 1.8, 1.12)
3. Join normally—ViaFabricPlus handles version translation automatically
4. You'll see a notification confirming the version bridge is active
What to Expect
Your client automatically adapts to the server's protocol, so blocks, items, and mechanics display correctly. However, some newer features won't be available on older servers—this is normal and expected. The mod handles this gracefully without crashes.
Troubleshooting
If you experience connection issues, open the ClickGUI menu and check if ViaFabricPlus is enabled. You can also right-click to adjust compatibility settings. Keep in mind that very old servers (pre-1.8) may have limited support.
