Troubleshoot Villagers Not Showing Custom Skins or Names

Verify File Placement

Check that custom skin and name files are in the correct directories within your mod's config folder. Incorrect file paths are the most common cause of custom content not loading. Ensure folder names match what the mod expects—usually skins/ and names/ or similar.

Check File Format

Confirm that skin files are valid .png images in standard Minecraft player skin format (64×64 or 64×32 pixels). Name files should be plain text (.txt) or the format specified in mod documentation. Corrupted or incorrectly formatted files will be skipped.

Reload Your World

Simply adding files doesn't always update existing villagers. Reload chunks by moving far away and returning, or restart your world entirely. New villagers that spawn after adding files should use your custom content immediately.

Check Mod Settings

Verify that custom content is enabled in the mod's settings menu. Some configurations allow you to toggle custom names and skins on or off. If disabled, the mod will use defaults instead. Re-enable the feature and reload to see changes.
