Understanding Your Mob Difficulty Score

What is the HostileMobs Scoreboard?

Your difficulty in this mod is tracked by a personal score on the HostileMobs scoreboard. This score determines how strong all hostile mobs spawn around you—higher score means tougher enemies. The score increases automatically every 20 minutes of gameplay, making the mod progressively harder over time.

Checking Your Current Score

Open your scoreboard or use commands to view your HostileMobs score. You can also infer your difficulty by observing mob behavior: stronger mobs deal more damage, move faster, wear better armor, and may have potion effects or special abilities.

How Score Affects Mobs

Every mob within a 32-block radius of you uses your score to determine its buffs. New players start with low scores and face mostly vanilla mobs, while experienced players encounter heavily modified versions. The mod applies improvements across 100 different levels, meaning difficulty scales gradually rather than in sudden jumps.

Multiplayer Implications

In multiplayer, each player has their own independent score. A veteran player and a newcomer in the same world will face different mob difficulties based on their individual playtime.
